point 22- Anamatic of your storyboard

I took photos of our storyboard, and added the music that we are using for our opening to it.

The Music- point 21

We have decided to use ine soundtrack throughout the whole opening. We have chosen this particular music to add in it is upbeat so therefore links in with out genre of Comedy/Drama, and it will add more atmosphere and energy to the opening, instead of just having the diegetic sounds. This is draw the audiences attention and keep them entertained. We found the music on the internet on a website called mp3unsigned.com

Story Arc- point 18 and 19

  • All the family (mum, dad, baby, sister and twin brothers) are argueing and dont get along at the start of the film
  • The children all go to school and are glad to be away from their family. The pretend they dont know each other at school as the are in different friendship groups. The girl is a slut and the twins are badd asses ;)
  • The twins are messing around doing comical things really high and they accidently set fire to the school with there joint, but they just find it funny cause there so high.
  • Meanwhile the girl is in a cupboard with a guy and they smell smoke but luckily they escape, but she goes mental at the twins for nearly killing her.
  • The Mum and baby win a free holiday all inclusive for a week for all of family in Benidorm. Whilst the mum is working in the supper market.
  • She announces it to the family that night tell but no one wants to go because they don't like each other, but then decide to go because the flight leaves the next day and parents know rent is due and they do not have the money.
  • During the holiday the family get along really well together, have a great time and become close. Things happen during the holiday to make it comical.
  • When they get back they see that the land lord has put an evicted letter on the door. If they don't pay money by the end of the week they will be kicked out.
  • Family starts to argue again cause the kids are upset that the parents didn't tell them, but they all pull together to help raise the money by getting jobs.
  • On the last day when the money is due they still do not have enough. But foruntaley the mum mum buys a scratch card they win £1000000, and they get the rent payed.
The End.

This is an example of Todorovs theory as we have the typical narrative structure, of everything getting good in the middle, and then it goes wrong towards the end, but it finished with a happy ending.
We also have elements of Propps theory, when the girl is in the fire she is a damsel in distress, the twins are the villians and the firemen are the heroes.
There are binary opposites including rich to poor, all getting along really well and hating each other, and funny to serious and dramatic, which is Strauss's theory,

    Key Elements - Point 17

The key elements that we will need to include in our opening scene to represent the expectations are..
Genre- drama and comedy- a dramatic opening with elements of comical interests
Audience- we are aiming for both boys and girls interest, perhaps more for boys as there is scenes of violence and slutty girls, from the ages of 16-28 years olds.

    Textual Analysis - House Bunny

The film House Bunny is a comedy drama film, which is the genre that I am studying and using for this course, which is represented through uses of cinematography, editing, sound and mis-enscene. The institution for this film is produced by Columbia which is a popular make.
The opening for this film is a slideshow of pictures looking through a scrapbook of the main character-Shelly's childhood. Their are comical parts and sad parts which add to the drama genre and set the mood of what the film is going to be about.

    Sound
There is uses of both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, for example the film immediately starts with non-diegetic sounds including the slow music in the background, with the voice over of Shelly talking about her childhood. As her childhood is sad the music is slow and quiet. There are also uses of sound effects, when they show a picture of her when she was younger and she is ugly there is a sound effect used which makes is comical. The diegetic sounds are of the turning of the pages in the book. As soon as Shelly has finished talking about her past, the music changes to bubbly, exciting music to represent how she is happy with her present life.

    Mis-en-scene
There is low key lighting at the beginning when she is talking about no one wanting her and how she was put in an orphanage, as the pictures are in black and white. This shows that she was unhappy at this stage, which compares to when she starts talking about her present life, and it instantly changes into high key lighting. They also use costume and propps to add to the comedy drama, for example there is a picture of her when she was an ugly teenager, and she is wearing not very fashionable clothes, and has glasses and braces.

    Cinematography
There isnt alot of shot use in the opening of this film as it is just a display of pictures, but as the film starts there is a variety of shots, for example it starts off with an establishing long shot of the playboy mansion, and the camera then tilts towards the sky. The next shot is a panning action of a typical scene in the playboy mansion by the pool. There is also uses of shot reverse shot when shelly is talking to people, mid shots and match on action shots.

    Editing
There is use of straight cut editing, when the clip cuts staright onto a new scene with no transactions, and there is generelly normal editing, sometimes it can be slower editing.

    Find Your Tribeeee!

I took the Find out your tribe quiz and I found out that I am an emo, which in some ways i agree with...although i dont have black hair!

"You are an Emo! Your eye liner bill is huge. It’s important to keep up your cartoon ghoul look, and match it with your other staples – checkerboard Vans, dyed black hair, skinny jeans and a T-shirt declaring your love for The Rocket Summer. Add neon flashes to play the Nu Rave kids at their own game. A tortured soul is optional."

    Point 16 ..film institutions!!!

I looked at a variety of different films with my selected genre -comedy/drama and which institutions produced them. In my research I found that Universal Studios, Columbia, Don Simpson/Jerry BruckHeimer Films,Legendary pictures, Mtv films, Warner brothers, Dream worksand Paramount are all well know institutions that produce this type of genre.
