point 15

I looked at the bar charts from Pearl and Dean who sell advertising in cinemas, and who have to know their audience. This shows me that people around the ages of 15-24 and 35+ mostly go to the cinema. I can also see that more higher class go to the cinema, most likley because they have more money to spend on in trips to cinemas, and that slightly more females go. I learn from this that if i was to show a film in the cinema, i would aim for higher class females ages 15-24 .

By looking at this bar chart, I can see that most families go to the cinemas at ages 7-14 and 35+. Again it is the higher class that go to cinemas more, and are more females.

I can use these ideas that i have learnt from Pearl and Dean for my own film, by making my film more interesting to higher class people around the age of 15-24.

Mood Board

I created a mood board, collecting and sticking down images i found from the Internet and magazines of things that represented the film genre dramatic comedy. I made this mood board to help me get an idea of the film is going to look like, by the type of images and scenes and the colours.

This shows me that there are alot of bright colours used, to lighten the mood and create a comical atmosphere. There are also fighting scenes to make it dramatic, which would involve perhaps two people facing each other having an arguement.

Point 11-Screenshots

I have selected 9 key shots from the opening titles of the comedy/drama film Little Miss Sunshine. I specifically chose these 9 shots, as they stood out the most. The first two shots are interesting as it is a real background with a cartoon camper van, introducing the title of the film. The next 6 shots are all presented in the same way. This is quite a comical way of introducing each character, and it stands out by the bold and flat yellow colour that is in the background. The main character is introduced first, with helps explain the importance of the characters. The last shot is a scene from the end of the film, which i think is a key part of the opening title because it is showing what the film is going to be about.

Graphic Breakdown!!!

This is my graphic timeline of the drama/comedy film Couples Retreat. There arae 27 titles in this breakdown, each title written in white and fading in and out. There is a slideshow of old pictures in the background, with a happy chearful song playing throughout the titles.

point 8- Comedy/Drama

The genre I have chosen to do is Comedy/Drama, like the film Juno. There are many other film under this genre, including Housebunny, Bad Teacher and 50 dates.

The typical structure of the storyline about whats happens in a comedy/drama, is that a problem arises around the beginning, and then the film will be about them trying to fix this problem, and everything will be going right until near the end of the film where something big will go wrong or bad, but the the ending is normally happy. For example in House bunny, she gets kicked out of the playboy mansion, and has no where to live. Fortunately she gets a job in a house at uni, and has to help the house get more pledges. The film goes on and she helps the house get more pledges and everything is gonig right, until something big goes wrong at the end, and she falls out with all the girls she lives with in the house, and they dont get their pledges. But, at the end everything turns out happy and they get their pledges. Comedy is added into this throughout the film, making you laugh whilst dramas are happening. The is normally some sort of romance that goes on between the main characters, which helps add to the humour sometimes, and also the drama builds up more.

Usually, the main character in a drama/comedy are girls, as film producers are aiming more for girls to watch is, but for example 50 first dates, the films has a boy and girl as the main characters.  The soundtracks used are more mainstream songs that everyone knows, and according to which part of the film, they will be appropriate for the storyline. For example in the trailer for Bad Teachers They play the well known song 'Beggin' by Madcon when she is doing a carwash for money. This song relates to te storyline because she is wanting money off people and the lyrics to the song is 'beggin, begging you'.

The lighting is natural of high key lighting, as the films are normally more happy than sad, because they are comical throughtout the film. In House Bunny, they use alot of pink colours, because the main character likes pink.

Prelim Task

When making this i focused on getting a match on action, shot revserve shot and not breaking the 180 degree rule. I found this challeging not the break the 180 degree rule as it was confusing making sure  we were filming from the right side/angle, but i think over all it was successful.

Film Brief :)

I chose the dramatic comedy like Juno, as I like the genre it was in and i think it will be a successful peice of filming as i can get lots of ideas from this genre. I will film this around the school campus, in classrooms and outside, in the forest and various places like this.

Jelly Babie Storyboard Babieee

There are 6 people in the family- the mum, dad, two twin brothers, sister and a baby. This family isnt close and they are all troubled and naughty.

It starts off with the slutty sister(red jelly baby) sat on the bench with one of her many boyfriends, and the twines (green jelly baby) beating up someone at their school and genereally creating trouble.

The twins are a bit crazy and like causing trouble and so they start setting their school on fire because they hate school and think its funny.

The dad is a postman, but instead of delivering the post he just steals it and never gets caught and cant be bothered to work.

The mum ( yellow jelly baby) doesnt have enough money to pay for nursery so she just takes her baby (orange jelly baby) to work with her.

On their way home the mum and baby fall out with the dad and so he is walking ahead of them.

The slutty daughter doesn't care anymore because they dont get on and just comes home at night time whenever she wants, but the dad is angry at her and starts yelling.

One of the twins finds their family problems too much how none of them get on and goes to the bridge, and jumps off to commit suicide. Fortunately, his twin had followed him and jumps into the water after him to save him.
After some time when the twin gets out of hospital from nearly dieing, over this period of time the family realise that they all love each other and that they do actually all need each other when in bad times. This traumatic incident brings them all together into a family circle.
